  • LETTER: Kent Stevens cares

Kent Stevens knows what hard work is about. He was my principal in school, and even though I was just a kid, I knew he was the kind of man I wanted to be like.
His door was always open to any student.
I feel Kent Stevens was a huge role model in my life, and I want to thank him for that.
Vote for someone that cares. Vote for Kent Stevens.

  • EDITORIAL: Thanks for making forum a success

Last Thursday’s city commission candidate forum went off without a hitch, and we couldn’t be more thankful.
Our staff, along with the Chamber of Commerce board of directors, put a lot of time and effort into coordinating Thursday’s forum, but we couldn’t have made it happen without you — the citizens and the candidates who attended.
Thursday was a model night of how, in an ideal world, elected officials would cooperate, collaborate and, let’s just say it, get along.

  • LETTER: Spencer County Habitat for Humanity thanks you

In October, Habitat held two separate yard sale fundraiser events and we would like to thank the community for all their donations, the volunteer support during the event and all the wonderful shoppers who stopped by to purchase items.
We would also like to thank the owner of the Polymerica building for his willingness and flexibility in allowing us to hold the yard sales in that facility.

  • LETTER: Vote Kent Stevens

  • LETTER: My plan?

I, John Shircliffe, ex-Main Street volunteer, had no authority to take or demand from property owners and any implication otherwise misrepresents me, my role and that of the Main Street Program. Period.

  • LETTER: A take on the commissioner’s forum

First, allow me to say that I appreciate The Spencer Magnet for allowing readers to express their opinions through this column. I understand that others may not share our views, but these letters to the editor are often very thought-provoking and sometimes inspirational. They help us to be a better Taylorsville by keeping us informed. I hope others will keep the letters coming.

  • LETTER: Adkins is choice for Congress

Bill Adkins, who is running in the 4th Congressional District, believes the middle class has long been under assault by special interests.  Middle class citizens do not have paid lobbyists protecting them — billion dollar corporations do.  Without a strong middle class, the nation cannot survive. Adkins will work for solutions to help defend and rebuild the middle class.

  • LETTER: Hornback endorses Hesselbrock

November 6th is approaching and there is one clear choice for County Clerk. Lynn Hesselbrock has restored credibility to the office and made it a pleasurable experience to visit. The clerk’s office is in charge of all elections and we must have a person who will make the office accountable and transparent so as to better serve the public. Hesselbrock is that person and I would encourage your support for her on Nov. 6.
