Members of the Taylorsville-Spencer County Fire Department rescued two young people Monday whose kayaks flipped in rough water on the Salt River downstream from the Taylorsville Lake spillway Sunday afternoon.
Chief Nathan Nation said emergency crews were called just after 4:30 p.m. Sunday after a report of the accident. Two juveniles, ages 14 and 11, were in the water.
“One was wearing a life jacket and one wasn’t,” said Nation. “They were able to get to a tree and hang on until we were able to get there.”
