Juniors Meghan Beard and Halee Hood were recently accepted into the Commonwealth Honors Academy at Murray State University. The Commonwealth Honors Academy (CHA) is an exciting, challenging three-week academic, social and personal growth program for outstanding high school students who have completed their junior year. Students applying for CHA are expected to have a 3.5 GPA and a composite ACT score of 25.
Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes reminds eligible Kentuckians that the deadline to register to vote in the upcoming May 19 Primary Election is Monday, April 20.
County clerks’ offices throughout Kentucky will accept voter registration cards until the close of business on that date. Mail-in voter registration applications must be postmarked by April 20.

A Louisville woman was seriously injured in a motorcyle accident Saturday afternoon in southern Spencer County.
The victim, who has not been identified pending the Sheriff’s Department investigation, was operating a motorcycle when she collided with a vehicle driven by a motorist from Lebanon. The driver of the car was not injured, but the motorcyclist suffered severe injuries to her leg and was flown from the scene.
Deputy Sam Madison said the victim has been in surgery and he will interview her regarding the accident when she is physically able.
