The Taylorsville Police Department is currently down an officer and looking for seasonal officers to fill the void. In the meantime, the department is operating at less than 24-hour coverage a few days each week.
Chief Toby Lewis said Wednesday that all shifts are covered four to five days a week and that on the other days, only a few hours go by without someone on duty.
A Kentucky Department of Education audit recently took a hard look at Spencer County Public School buses and found that overall the fleet was in fair condition and the local transportation department is operating efficiently, but several suggestions for improvments were made.
District Director of Operations and Transportation Brett Beaverson said he requested the audit so he would have a better idea of the department’s current status. Beaverson took over the department after former transportation director Jack Senior retired last summer.
