Judge Donna Dutton heard the following cases in Spencer District Court on April 26, 2013:

Traffic:
Ruben R. Rodriguez Garcia (1974), speeding 13 miles over the limit, guilty; no operator’s/moped license, amended to no license in possession, guilty; $209 in fines/fees to be paid in installments/deferred payment.

Timothy K. Englert (1986), speeding 18 miles over the legal limit, guilty, state traffic school, $143 court costs to be paid in installments/deferred payment.

Campbellsville University honored 160 teachers from 59 school districts throughout Kentucky by receiving the Campbellsville University Excellence in Teaching Award Saturday, May 11 at Winters Dining Hall in the E. Bruce Heilman Student Center Complex on the CU campus.

The Taylorsville Police Department issued the following citations May 10-19:

Shane R. Goldsmith, 26, of Tecumseh Drive in Shepherdsville, was cited May 10 for failure to wear seat belts.

Frank Longley, 22, of Hill-N-Dale in Shelbyville, was cited May 11 for no registration plates, no registration receipt and license to be in possession.

Elizabeth A. Coke, 44, of the 1200 block of Duchmans Creek Road, was cited May 13 for no registration plates and no registration receipt.

May is Girl Power Month at the library
May is Girl Power Month at the Spencer County Public Library. Beginning this Thursday, each Thursday this month at 6:30 is girls’ night out.
Girls between the ages of 13 and 18 can join in with friends for activities and conversations.
The event is sponsored by the The Center for Women and Families.

The girls fell to 2-29 on the season following another rough week that saw them lose 5-2 to Marion County, 10-2 to Shelby County, 15-0 to Woodford County and 10-0 to Nelson County. The girls were scheduled to open 30th District Tournament play on Monday night against Anderson County in Lawrenceburg.

More than $27 million in asphalt rehabilitation projects have been awarded by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet as the spring construction season gets underway.
The first asphalt projects of the season are distributed over 45 counties.
“Maintaining our roadways is one of the most important responsibilities of the Transportation Cabinet,” Kentucky Transportation Secretary Mike Hancock said. “Well-maintained roads are safer for motorists. They’re also important for economic development and community growth.”
