 The SCES dance team partcipated at the Kentucky State Fair dance competition through NDA on August 23 in the youth Hip Hop division. The girls received first place and a bid to NDA nationals.

 Life as a potato digger was tough. For starters, I had to get up with the chickens. After a hearty breakfast, Mom handed me a lunch pail that usually contained a left over biscuit and a piece of bacon from breakfast, and then I walked what seemed an endless two-mile trek to the potato garden. I remembered reading a book about Abraham Lincoln that said he once walked 20 miles to borrow a book. I decided I shouldn’t complain, but be thankful that I didn’t have 18 miles to go.

 James 1:5-8 “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord.  The 160th Annual Meeting of the Nelson Baptist Association (NBA) will be held Monday, October 6, at the People’s Church of Central Kentucky located on Wildcat Lane which intersects with Hwy 62 East (Bloomfield Road) in Bardstown.  Doug Bunch is the pastor.

Perryville battlefield State Historic Site will again play host to the re-enactment of the largest battle of the Civil War in Kentucky Oct. 11-12.

The two-day event will include demonstrations of infantry, cavalry and artillery, along with authentic campsites, battleground tours and expert speakers. The highlight each day will be a 2 p.m. battle.

Beyond the Log Cabin: Kentucky’s Abraham Lincoln, the commonwealth’s signature Lincoln bicentennial exhibition, opens to the public Tuesday, October 21, at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History in Frankfort.

 That’s easier said than done these days, isn’t it?  It’s a lot easier to front a smile or to text a smiley than to actually feel happy.  How often have you walked into work or church and put on your happy face just for appearances?  How often have you texted ‘lol’ but felt DOA?

 As we look at Paul writing to this church in Galatia, he tells this church if we commit all these dreadful sins we can not expect to inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. Galatians 5:19-21
