  • “It just felt like God was sending me this way,”  said Virginia Smith of Taylorsville.  “Because, it’s all working out.” Smith prepared packages for the soldiers of her son-in-laws Army Unit out of Fort Hood, now serving in Iraq.  She was able to do this with money raised through; her church, All Saint’s Catholic, her pinochle club and her family and friends. Boxes filled with some necessities to make soldiers lives a bit easier, while hopefully making them feel a bit closer to home were to be sent out Thursday, September 4, to Iraq.

  • “Time for dinner...” echoing down the hallway and into my bedroom was one of my favorite things to hear as a child.  Now yes, if you know me, you know I like to eat and I always have.  But it wasn’t just the great home cooked meals my mother put on the table I was excited about.  Maybe you’ve heard of it, it was called sitting at the table as a family to eat together.  It was a remarkable thing.  It was a time that we chatted about the happenings of our day, a time we let out parents know if something was bothering us, a time to laugh at each

  • John 4:23-24 – “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”

As we look at what Jesus is telling us in these two verses, we see that we are to let the Holy Spirit take over our prayer life and our worship services. If we do not, we will get very little good out of either one.

  • This article is a little different than most.

I have had so many good comments about the articles I write for the paper, so I thought I would let you know where I’m coming from. One person told me, “I know from reading your article you don’t just get up and say I’m going to go in there and write an article.”

    How right she was.

  • Is anyone listening? It is a question that often echoes in my head. God created one mouth and two ears on people, which I assume means we should spend twice as much time listening as we do talking. Unfortunately, even when we are not talking, many times we are not listening either. How many times have you formulated what you were going to say to someone as they were talking and waited with baited breath for them to finish so that you could put in your two cents? If I had two cents for every time I have done that I would be very wealthy.
