Opinion

  • After reading the last two issues of the Spencer Magnet in regards to the school board spending valuable taxpayer dollars on meaningless political arguments, I was infuriated and felt the need to express my strong opinion.

  • Editor’s note: As Republican Party alternative delegates Steve and Lynn Hesselbrock had the opportunity to view the presidential electoral process first hand. We asked them to report back to the Spencer Magnet about their experiences.

  • Our family is sending out this thank you to all of you wonderful people out there who have showed your love, gave support, who have prayed and continure to do so for Timmy Stevens Sr. and his family during this time of need since the concrete truck wreck that happened August 18.

We greatly appreciate the young man who was first and last on the scene. Your quick action of calling for help and for calling American Concrete will never be forgotten.

  • This letter is in response to the article involving Spencer County Fairgrounds property and the Kentucky Quarter Horse Association AQHA Charity Ride at Rolling Hills Campground. We would like to express our sincere apologies to Mr. Tinsley and anyone else who may have inadvertently been infringed upon. We were not aware Mr. Tinsley had a verbal agreement to lease some of the county farm where the Fairgrounds are located. We thought the fairgrounds included all the county farm property.

  • I felt compelled to write in support of Sandy Clevenger and her undying efforts to have our school district in alignment with the law.

I blogged the article in last week’s paper, but wondered how many people have access the internet.

  • Just a few words of thanks and appreciation for the recognition of Johnnie Shafar’s service with the fire department in earlier years. He would have been very proud. Thanks especially to Richard Morris, Nathan Nation and Glenn Goebel.

  • I am the Spencer County foster care and adoption worker for the State of Kentucky’s Recruitment and Certification Team and I want people to know there is a need for foster and adoptive parents in Spencer County.

Our program is different than most, we are a state funded program, so all of our services are free. We even offer financial assistance for foster and adoptive parents to help off set some of the costs associated with caring for foster children.

  • There are many issues like taxes, health care, the war, and oil prices. I think the one issue of the four that is the most important has to be the war on terrorist.

Keeping our family safe should be our main concern. So if you take a look at our two candidates for president, we need to vote for the best leader for this country to keep America safe.

  • This letter is in response to the cover story of last week’s Magnet in which Jack Conway found in favor of Sandy Clevenger about a closed meeting that the school board decided to have regarding Mr. Adams’ evaluation. I am very angry that members of our school board would even consider spending taxpayer money to appeal Jack Conway’s decision.
