Biennial Road Construction Plan passed by House and Senate

The 294-page House Bill 266, otherwise known as the Biennial Road Construction Plan, was passed by the House and Senate last week.

The Free Conference Committee report on HB 266 was approved March 28 by a 37-0 vote in the Senate, and a 96-0 vote in the House.

The road projects approved for Spencer County for Fiscal Years 2024 — 2026 are as follows:

KY 55:

  • Improve safety and traffic operations on KY 55 from KY 1169 to KY
  • 155 and on KY 155 from KY 55 to MP 2.0 (total length 2.71 miles)
  • Improve traffic operations on KY 55 from KY 1169 to KY 155 (mile point 10.5 to mile point 11.3)
  • Reduce congestion, improve safety, and enhance mobility on KY 55 from KY 44 to Industrial Drive (mile point 6.610 to mile point 6.838)
  • Improve safety and traffic operation on KY 55 from KY 155 near Elk Creek to KY 148 at Finchville. (KY 55 from KY 155 at mile point 11.270 to Spencer/Shelby County line at mile point 13.566)

KY 155:

  • Improve safety at the intersection of KY 155 and KY 3192/Hochstrasser Road (mile point 2.4 to mile point 2.6)
  • Improve intersection of KY 155 and Goebel Road/Hochstrasser Road (mile point 0.65 to mile point 0.85)

KY 44:

  • Improve safety and address geometric deficiencies along KY 44 near Dutchman Creek Road
  • Improve capacity, relieve congestion, and improve safety along KY 44 from Goose Creek Road to Oak Tree Way (mile point 1.202 to mile point 7.542)
  • Improve capacity, relieve congestion, and improve safety along KY 44 from Cox’s Lane near the Bullitt/Spencer County line to Goose Creek Road (mile point 0 to mile point 1.202)
  • Address safety and geometric issues on KY 44 at junction KY 1251 to curve after Hunter’s Trace Road

KY 1060:

  • Bridge project on KY 1060 at Plum Creek

Fiscal Year 2025 Total Project Cost: $7,290,000

Fiscal Year 2026 Total Project Cost: $19,770,000
