Reader questions dropping of criminal charges

My cousin, Noah Jordan, was savagely beaten last year in Spencer County by a prominent local citizen.

Noah is a plumber, and the customer was irate because he turned up later than expected. There was no fighting or arguing; his client merely beat him in the face as he was packing up his tools to leave.

Because the assailant in this crime is well-connected in Spencer County, it took lots of pressure to even get this case presented to the Grand Jury.

Once the violent man was finally indicted, the county attorney dropped the charges. This is a miscarriage of justice for all workers that go to customer’s homes for a living.

The County Attorney is basically saying that it’s OK to savagely beat the plumbers, HVAC repairmen, exterminators or handymen in Spencer County if they turn up late for an appointment.

Are the residents of Spencer County going to allow this corruption to persist?

EDITOR’S NOTE: Former County Attorney Ken Jones handled the preliminary hearing in November 2022, at which probable cause was found, and the case was sent to the grand jury. The matter was then handed over to the Commonwealth Attorney. The county attorney’s office was no longer involved with the process afterwards.
