    Sergio Kerusch is blessed with a Scotty Pippin run-the-floor body, a smile worth a million bucks, and maybe, ideally, a Larry Bird play-all-day love for the game.

    The 6’5”, 225-pounder stepped up his game to Pippin-like numbers too at Western Kentucky last season. But this isn’t about Kerusch’s 15.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 44 turnovers in 992 minutes (32 games).

  • COLUMN: Kentucky sore about 4-seed?

    Hand-wringing Kentucky fans should take pause from “we got hosed again!” and consider the short guy at Morehead.
    Coach Don Tindall lobbied for more respect, a higher seed for his OVC champion Eagles. Recalling “be careful what you wish for,” he got the latter. A 13-seed and all but certain one and done, Morehead faces the team nobody wants to play this week, the Louisville Cardinals.

  • COLUMN: For teams in Kentucky, this is it!

    For Morehead State (in), Louisville, Bellarmine, Georgetown, and at this writing, possibly Western Kentucky, drum roll, please.
    This is it! Michael Jackson crooned. Tournament time.
    Morehead will wait to see if its next foe is Kansas, Duke or Ohio State.
    The best tournament could be the Big East and UofL is a major reason why.

  • Super bowl wasn't super television

    Just like in years past, the Super Bowl last Sunday attracted millions and millions to the television, but unlike some years, this year the best television occurred when the two teams were actually playing.

    The Packers and Steelers engaged in an entertaining game that came down to the wire and the game itself was actually the highlight of an otherwise so-so evening of television.
    The commercials were disappointing and it seems that advertisers seem to try way too hard to impress or get a laugh. Sometimes simpler is better.
