  • Grizzly football plans parent meeting, practice

    Grizzly football is starting up again at Spencer County Middle School, and the coaches want to inform parents and students of a few important dates.
    A parent meeting is planned in the school cafeteria tonight (Wednesday) at 6 p.m.
    Equipment will be handed out on Friday at the first practice, which will be from 6 to 8 p.m.  The first full week of practice will begin Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and will continue thereafter.

  • Local athlete heads to Junior Olympics

    Spencer County Stallion phenom Jay Smith will take his speed and abilities to the Junior Olympics in New Orleans in August after an outstanding performance in track and field this season.

  • Smith to compete at national track meet

    On July 2 and 3, Kadin Smith, an upcoming sixth-grader at Spencer County Middle School, competed in the AAU Track and Field National Qualifier meet in Springfield, Ohio, and earned a chance to compete at the national meet.

  • Let's all do a little fancy dancin'

     The Spencer County High School Dance Team had a successful “Taylor Swift” dance clinic.  The clinic had 94 student participants in this exciting event.  Each child received a t-shirt and cowboy hat.  Students performed their dance routine at the SCHS boys basketball game on Feb. 8.

  • 7U runners-up finish season

    The 7U runners-up finished a great basketball season on Sat. Feb. 19 with a win and a loss.  Players pictured are Colleen Foster, Conner Mattingly, Hunter Campanell, Tyler Lester, Bralen Spencer, Kolten Scott, Jose Solis, Jackson Scott and Baylin Ford.  The team was coached by Donna Lester and Jenny Banta.

  • Seventh grade Grizzlies finish with winning record

    The Spencer County Middle School boys’ seventh-grade Grizzlies basketball team finished its regular season recently with a winning record of 17-3. The team includes Blake Lambdin, Jamie Newnam, Jacob Cole, Ethan Breeden, Jamal Downs, Jacob Derudder, Jacob Mitchell, Robert Currie, Zach Stevens, Noah Dockery and Logan Holbrook.

    Youth baseball, softball sign-ups this Saturday

    Spencer County Youth Baseball and Softball Association sign-ups will be held Saturday at Ray Jewell Park in Taylorsville from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Participants may also sign up online at http://spencercountybaseball.baberuthonline.com.

  • 8th region champs

    The SCHS dance team competed in Regional competition on Saturday, January 29 at Collins High School in Shelbyville. The dance team won 1st place in the Hip-Hop Division and Pom Division, and will now advance to the State Competition in Frankfort on Feb. 26.
