  • Spencer County Celtics named champions

    The Spencer County Celtics, a U10 boys team with the Spencer County Sports Association, won big at the 2010 Commonwealth Cup held in November. The Commonwealth Cup is a state sanctioned soccer tournament open to all teams throughout Kentucky vying for the number one team in the state honors. This season the championship trophy belongs to the Celtics along with head coach John Elder and Mike Brangers.

  • Lady Bears battle Oldham

    The Spencer County Lady Bears jumped out to a quick start against Oldham County and played their 8th Region foes close throughout before falling 61-55 at home.

    The Lady Bears used a very strong first quarter to build a seven-point lead and held a 19-12 advantage after the first quarter. However, the Lady Colonels stormed back in the second quarter, erasing that lead and went into the halftime break with a 31-30 lead.

  • Bears in action Sunday at Bullitt East, scouts expected

    Spencer County’s game against Bullitt East has been rescheduled for Sunday, Jan. 30 at 4 p.m. as part of a double-header that is expected to attract several Division I coaches, scouts and plenty of media.

  • Lady Bears snare first win

    The Spencer County Lady Bears picked up their first win of the season last week as they opened up play in the Campbellsville Food Pantry Classic girls high school basketball tournament, knocking off the host Lady Eagles, 51-39, on Dec. 20.

    The girls fell behind early, trailing 15-11 after one quarter, but quickly surged ahead in the second quarter and led 25-19 at the intermission. The Lady Bears would increase that lead in the second half to secure the victory.
