  • Bears wallop Woodford 49-7

     

    Kadin Smith is a threat to score whenever he touches the ball. That’s not only true on offense, where he’s Spencer County’s leading rusher, but in Friday night’s 49-7 thrashing of Woodford County in Versailles, Smith also scored twice on defense as the Bears completely dominated for their first win in four weeks.

  • Lady Bears go 4-1 in tournament...

     

    The Spencer County Lady Bears Volleyball team improved to 14-7 on the season with a terrific showing at a tournament in Henry County over the weekend.

    The girls got victories over Gallatin County, Henry County and Belleview, and split with Bullitt Central during the event.

    The Spencer County Bears  dropped a 6-3 decision to Frankfort last week as they fell to 3-4 on the season.

  • Lady Bears soccer

     

    The Lady Bears dropped a 3-0 decision at Nelson County last week. The girls were to  be at Bardstown on Monday night and will travel to Shelby County on Wednesday, and host Larue County on Monday. The Lady Bears are 2-7 on the season.

  • Hunting, fishing fees may rise

    The Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Commission unanimously recommended today that the department increase prices for some resident Kentucky hunting and fishing licenses.

    The Commission is the guiding body for the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. It took the action during its September quarterly meeting. It will be the first resident license price increase in more than a decade, and the first increase of the senior and disabled sportsman’s licenses since their inceptions in 1999.

  • Bears battle Titans, but lose 1-...

     

    The Spencer County Bears soccer team battled Collins  tough last Thursday night. The only goal came on a Collins penalty kick about  halfway through the first half, as the Titans held on for a 1-0 lead in a key district matchup. The Bears  are 3-3 on the season and were scheduled to face another district foe Tuesday at Shelby County  and will host Frankfort on Thursday.

    Spencer County Sophomore Kylie Barron works between two defenders during a recent game for the Spencer County Lady Bears soccer team. The girls are 2-6 on the season, after a 3-0 shutout victory over Louisville Collegiate last week. The Lady Bears will  be on the road this week at Nelson County on Thursday  evening.

    Spencer County Volleyball Coach Doug Coan talks to senior Kylie Lyons prior to a recent home game. Coan has led his squad to an 8-5 record so far this season, including a 2-1 loss to Marion County and a 3-0 district win over Anderson County last week.
