  • Stallions go 3-0 against Lyndon...

It was definitely football weather when the Mighty Mites (ages 5-7) took to the field on a cool morning Saturday.
The Stallions got off to an unusually slow defensive start allowing Lyndon to score early in the first quarter. But it was all Spencer County from there.

  • COLUMN: Names or not, each...

If you’re a serious football fan, you know the name Walter Payton. He gained yards, he scored touchdowns, he had nicknames like “Sweetness” and his image adorned posters from coast to coast.
Any newspaper story or television report about a Chicago Bears game from the mid 70s through most of the 80s included plenty of information about how Payton played, how many yards he gained, how many times he crossed the goal line.

  • ONLINE ONLY: SCHS soccer update

The Lady Bears are 3-7 on the season and have been decimated by injuries. Several key players have had season-ending injuries that has put a damper on what they had hoped would be a great season. They’re still a competitive team as shown by a number of close losses. Last week, they fell 3-2 to a good Collins team and they won a 10-0 shutout over Fort Knox. This week, the Lady Bears were to be at Shelby County on Monday, were to host Bardstown on Tuesday and will be at Lexington Christian on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. They’ll host Anderson County at 6 p.m. Monday.
