  • NCAA got it right on Wall

Like Baseball umpires and SEC football officials, the NCAA enforcement division doesn’t expect Christmas cards from college coaches and players. But it scored one out of two with the University of Kentucky this calendar year.

Bad decision on football’s Jeremy Jarmon last spring, but the NCAA got it right on John Wall last week.

    • Put the kid in street clothes for two games lets him see past media worship and, “yep, this team really can get it done without me.”

  • Shooting Stars named champs

The U8 division ended their season with the Mike Miles U8 Invitational Tournament.  It was cold and wet, but these little soccer players endured, played, and had fun.

This is an all day tournament which starts at 10 a.m. and plays the final game at 4:30 p.m.  It was another exciting tournament that hosted six teams and over 100 spectators, despite the weather conditions.

One game was decided by “kicks from the mark” and several other games were very close, going down to the wire.

  • Bears end season with...

The Spencer County Bears suffered their most lopsided loss of the season Friday night, falling to 5A power Anderson County 60-18 in Lawrenceburg. The loss was the fifth in a row for the Bears and they’ll open postseason play Friday night at two-time and defending state champion Louisville Central.

On the surface, there’s not much to be optimistic about, but head coach Wes Napper said he has faith in the team and thinks they’ve shown the ability to play with anybody in 3A.
