McKenna Pfeiffer is like a lot of high school seniors. She’s anticipating her prom in just a few weeks, savoring the final months of her high school career and looking forward to graduation. But the past year of McKenna’s life has been anything but routine.

The Spencer County Stallions are having a youth football fun and skills camp every Sunday in April from 2 to 4 p.m. It will be held at the Stallions Field, 100 Water St.
It is free to boys and girls ages 5 to 11.
“Even if you’re not sure your child wants to play football, bring them on out for the fun and exercise,” organizers said.
No equipment is required.
The Stallions are also seeking volunteers interested in applying for the head coach positions. Resumes may be submitted to one of the board members present at the spring camps.

Local fisherman Joe Paul Smith caught this largemouth bass on Feb. 24 in Polk City, Fla. The fish weighed 10 pounds, 1.5 ounces and was 25 inches long.
Smith was accompanied by Ron Call of Polk City and Clayton Call of North Port, Fla.
After the fish was weighed and measured, it was released.

Jacob Barmore was 22 years old when he returned to Spencer County as the youngest head coach in Kentucky high school basketball back in 2004. It was a rough first season for the rookie coach – not only because his team only won seven games, but he also suffered serious injuries in a car accident that caused him to miss several games and left him in pain on the sidelines much of the year.
