In Tuesday’s contest, the teams traded the lead with Collins taking a 3-2 advantage after three innings. A three run fifth inning put Spencer County up 5-3, but Collins got a run back in the bottom of that inning and collected two runs to walk off with the victory in the bottom of the seventh inning.

  • Middle School Track setting...

The Spencer County Middle School Track team is over the half-way point in the season and the program continues to show improvement. Several athletes have recorded personal bests and set school records this year. Last week, A.J. Basham ran the 800 meters in 2:17.92, Wade Hutt finished the 100 meter hurdles in 18:64 and Kellan Wade had a school record shot put throw of 36 feet, 7 inches.

Those three, along with Chance Rogers, Alli Manley and Tori Manley have all qualified for state competition.

  • SCHS Bass Team fares well

Clayton Roundtree and Dillon Stallings battled a steady rain and cool temperatures to earn 4th place out of 158 boats at a high school fishing tournament on Lake Cumberland on April 22. The pair caught the limit of smallmouth, weighing 14.85 pounds. The pair will now compete at Kentucky Lake against 63 other qualifiers across the state.

8th Grader Drew Lyvers and Freshman Ivy Pulliam also caught the limit, and their fish weighed in at 11:03, for 24th place.
