  • SCMS Dance Team wins runner-up

     

    The Spencer County Middle School Dance Team won runner-up in the small hip-hop category at state competition Sunday, placing 2nd out of 18 other middle schools.   • Last chance for youth baseball...

    The last chance to sign up for Spencer County Youth Baseball is this week. There will be signups Thursday evening at Ray Jewell Park from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

    On Saturday, evaluations will be held for players 7 and up, and late signups will be accepted. Saturday’s event will be from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Ray Jewell Park. If there’s bad weather, the event will be at the back gym of Spencer County High School.

  • Spencer County Youth Basketball...

     

    These young basketball players gave it their all Saturday morning as part of the Spencer County Youth Basketball league. The league, sponsored by the Spencer County Parks Department, gives youth of all ages a chance to learn the game. They play at both the Spencer County Elementary School, and Taylorsville Elementary School. This game was at the TES gym.

  • 7th grade Bears win Conference...

     

    The Spencer County Middle School 7th grade boys recently won their Conference Championship. The team is coached by Scott Noel and Garrett Shelburne. Pictured are members: E.J. Mitchell, Gage Mabry, Carmelo Spencer, Bralen Spencer, T.J. Polk, Brayden Duke, Gabe Shelley, Charlie Cook, Bradon Kerchner and Michael Cox.

  • Girls take down Collins 52-41

     

  • Bears defeat two region...

     

    The Spencer County Bears had little trouble with two 8th region opponents last week as they continued their solid play.
    They opened the week on Tuesday night with a 67-50 victory over visiting Carroll County, that was not as close as the score would indicate.

    The Bears jumped out to an early 9-0 lead after Bryson Cannon knocked down a three pointer and they extended that to 16-3 after Jacob Coke followed up a trey of his own with another basket. As the quarter ended, the boys held a commanding 22-11 lead.

  • State youth wrestling champs

     

    The Spencer County Youth Wrestling Association traveled to Broadbent Arena in Louisville Sunday for the Kentucky State Wrestling Championship.

    Though all the kids performed well, three young people made it to championship matches.

    Kennan Carnes and Colton Kessinger, both fighting through the respective weight classes, came away with silver medals and were state runners-up.

  • SCHS Dance Team wins first place

     

    The Spencer County High School Dance Team won first place in  both hip hop and team performance at KDCO Regionals on January 28.  They will compete at KDCO State Competition on February 18 in Frankfort.  They also brought home a win in both hip hop and team performance, as well as, Grand Champion at The Battle Dance Competition at EKU this past weekend.
