  • Bears drop first two during...

     

    The Spencer County Bears are down south this week for their annual spring break  baseball trip and began the week’s play with a 3-1 loss to Livingston Central on Sunday and a 3-0 shutout loss to Madison Central on Monday morning.

    The Bears got a good pitching performance from Jakob McDaniel, who struck out ten and surrendered only three hits on Sunday, but the Cardinals scored three times and were just as strong on the mound, limiting the Bears to just one run on three hits for the 3-1 loss.

  • Lady Bears off to a 5-0 start

     

    The Spencer County Lady Bears are rolling after one week of the season, finding success in both close games and routes as they compiled a 5-0 record.

    The young squad demonstrated a lot of poise Thursday in their closest game thus far, winning a 2-1 battle with North Oldham at home.

  • Lady Grizzlies soccer

     

    The Spencer County Middle School Lady Grizzlies soccer team has a 1-1 record after their first week of action. The girls fell 2-1 in their opener on Monday night to Marion County. Sara Williamson recorded the goal on an Allie Campbell assist. On Wednesday, the girls took a 1-0 victory over Mt. Washington Middle School, with Williamson scoring the goal

    McKenzie Bell placed 1st in the 800 meter run at the Shelby County Invitational last week for the SCHS Track team.

    Spring turkey hunting is slipping into position before daybreak and sitting still as the sun eases over the hills.

    It is breaking the silence with a call and getting a response that sends a shock of excitement down your spine. It is coaxing a love-struck gobbler closer and keeping your wits as it struts into range.

  • Bears find first win at Trimble

     

    The Spencer County Bears baseball team got off to a rough 0-3 start, and traveled to Trimble County Saturday looking for their first win. They got it with a big 12-2 victory over the Raiders. The boys began the season last week with a 7-4 loss at North Bullitt, followed by a 8-1 loss at Fairdale and a close 7-6 loss to Kentucky Country Day on Thursday.  The boys finally get to play at home this week, including a Thursday matchup with Bullitt Central.

  • JV softball wins tournament

     

    While the varsity began their season this week, the Spencer County Lady Bears softball team got the season off to a very positive start, winning a six-team tournament with wins over Shelby County and Butler over the weekend.

    The Lady Bears opened the tournament with a 7-2 victory over Butler on Friday, with Emily Cole and Elizabeth Vannatta starring at the plate with home runs, and Elisabeth Huckleberry limiting the Lady Bulldogs from the mound.
