    Spencer County Senior Mackenzie Myers was honored after a recent victory over Whitefield Academy for becoming the school’s all-time leading scorer in girls basketball. Myers entered the game with 1,306 points, surpassing the previous mark set by Roxane Perry, left, who joined Myers and Head Coach David Marion for the presentation.

    The Spencer County Lady Bears picked up their first win of the season last Tuesday night against Whitefield Academy, scoring a 54-35 victory over the visiting Lady Wildcats.

    The Spencer County Bears notched the first career win for head coach Jason Burns last Monday with a 61-53 victory over Whitefield Academy in Taylorsville.

They’ve advanced deep into the playoffs each season, last season making it to the championship game, and this year claiming the title with a 38-35 win over favored Ft. Thomas Highlands.

  • Lady Bears to host Holiday...

    In years past, the Spencer County Lady Bears have traveled away from home during the holiday break for various basketball tournaments. This year, they are hosting one of their own that will also serve as a fundraiser for the program.
    Coach David Marion said he is hoping for a successful tournament this year as a way to boost the program, get some quality teams to come to Taylorsville and hopefully provide area basketball fans with some entertaining hoops action.

  • Bears fall to Waggener, 73-63

    The Spencer County Bears opened their season last Monday night with a 73-63 loss at home to Waggener. It was the first game for new coach Jason Burns, and while he would have preferred a victory, the outing did signal an exciting brand of basketball from a young team that won’t easily give up.

  • Runners represent Spencer at AAU...

    Seven Spencer County runners competed at the AAU National Cross Country Meet at Fort Gordon, Ga., this past weekend. These runners are part of the Kentucky Elite Running Club, a team of select runners from around the state of Kentucky. The meet was attended by teams from Florida, Ohio, Georgia, New York, Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey, California and more.
    Local donations paid for the runners meals during this three-day trip.
