    The Spencer County Elementary Cross Country Team (grades 1st-3rd) competed in their first meet of the season, the Shelby County Invitational, on September 3. The team did well placing 6th out of 11 teams. The boys were led by Buck Murphy, who placed 23rd out of 119 runners

    As the carefree days of summer give way to the first days of September, it’s finally starting to feel like fall in Kentucky.

    A cold front promised to break the stranglehold of heat and humidity just as wingshooters returned to dove fields for the traditional Sept. 1 season opener.

  • Bears edge Jaguars, 28-27

     

    After shutting out East Jessamine in the first half, the Spencer County Bears defense bent in the second half, but they held when it counted, stopping the Jaguars on a two-point conversion with only seconds remaining to preserve a hard-fought 28-27 victory in Nicholasville Friday night.

    “That is a quality win on the road. The team showed some character, heart and a competitive spirit,” said Bears Coach Mike Marksbury.

  • Heat hampers Cross Country team...

    On August 26, the Spencer County Cross Country team had their first 5k of the season at the St. X Tiger Run. On the way to the race, the bus was silent with faint sleepy whispers every now and then. Everyone’s nerves were noticeable as we got closer to where the meet was held, but we were all optimistic as the morning progressed.  

  • Lady Bears are 2-2 on the season

     

    The Lady Bears are 2-2 on the season, and were scheduled to host Evangel Christian on Monday night and Bullitt East on Wednesday.

  • Lady Bears battling

     

    The Spencer County Lady Bears soccer team has tasted defeat three times since their season-opening win over Henry County.  In a 3-1 loss at North Bullitt, the girls got a goal from Cailey Meredith off an assist from Morgan Lurie. In their 6-1 defeat against Christian Academy of Louisville, Lurie scored the lone goal for the Lady Bears.

    The girls will try to get back on the winning track this week. They were scheduled to travel to Marion County on Monday and will host Atherton Wednesday night, before they get a week off.
