The following cases were heard by Judge Donna Dutton in Spencer County District Court on Dec. 10, 2010:

Tracy Chesser, speeding 17 mph over limit. Paid $177.

Nikolay Kuchmy, speeding 17 mph over limit. Paid $177.

Larry S. Arnold, operating a motor vehicle under influence of alcohol/drugs, first offense. $728 fine, 30 day suspension of operators license; and alcohol/drug education program; use/possess drug paraphanalia, first offense, 180 days conditionally discharged; criminally littering. Fine $20.

Marry Ellen Bacon, operating on suspended/revoke license, fine $100; speeding 23 mph over limit, paid $192; failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security, $500 fine.

Jerry Baumgardner, careless driving. $50 fine.

Elvis L. Chick, failure to improper signal. Paid. Obstructed vision or windshield. Paid.

Arturo Dominguez, residents not to use license of other states. $50 fine.

Michael S. Heady, speeding 20 mph over limit. Paid $183.

Royce W. King Jr., speeding 17 mph over limit. Paid $193

Jesse K. Mills, possession of marijuana, 30 days, conditionally discharged one year; $100 to drug intervention fund.

William J. Moore, speeding 15 mph over limit. Paid $173.

Charles A. Nation, complicity theft by unlawful taking. Guilty plea.

Sandra G. Stover, failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security, $500 fine.

The following cases were heard by Judge Linda Armstrong in Spencer County District Court on Dec. 28, 2010:

Ashley J. Mobley, failure of owner/operator to maintain required insurance, $1,000 plus $143 costs; failure to notify address change to Department of Transportation, $20 fine.

Eduardo Medina, drinking alcoholic beverages in a public place, first and second offense, $25 plus $148 costs.

Troy S. Waldridge, alcohol intoxication in a public place, first and second offense, $25 plus $153 costs.

Billie R. Ellison, Taylorsville, theft by unlawful taking over $500. 2-year sentence probated for 5 years consecutive to Spencer County case plus costs.

FELONY:

Troy S. Waldridge, amended to fleeing or evading police, second degree, 30 days concurrent.

The following cases were heard by a Spencer County Grand Jury:

Joshua W. Sweat, 3268 Yoder Tipton Road in Taylorsville, on Dec. 9, 2010 was indicted on one felony count of theft by unlawful taking or exercising control of property of a value of $500 or more belonging to Spencer County, with intent to deprive the owner thereof. He was also charged with a misdemeanor count of criminal mischief in the second degree. Sweat is accused of intentionally or wantonly defacing, destroying or damaging a gate that belongs to Spencer County on Jan. 17, 2010.

Paula Katzman, 5328 Elk Creek Road in Taylorsville, on Dec. 9, 2010 was indicted on one felony count of welfare fraud. Katzman is accused of committing the offense of false statements, misrepresentations, and failure to report change in order to receive public assistance benefit from September 2004 to September 2008. She is accused of illegally receiving $26,760 in child care benefits.

Brandon Denham and Julia Phillips, both of 515 Auburndale Ave. in Louisville, were charged with three felony counts on Dec. 9, 2010: burglar, convicted felon in possession of a handgun, and convicted felon in possession of a firearm. Denham and Phillips are accused of committing burglary in the first degree on Oct. 16, 2010 by unlawfully entering a building on Mt. Washington Road. They are also charged with committing the crime while armed with explosives and/or a deadly weapon.

Nathaniel H. Hardy, 990 Bates Lane in Shepherdsville, on Jan. 4 was indicted on the charge of rape in the second degree. Hardy is accused of engaging in sexual intercourse with a person less than 14 years of age between July 15, 2009, and Aug. 15, 2009.
