Education - TES ready for exciting new school year

-A A +A

Welcome Back Tigers!

Buses are fired up, hallways are waxed and teachers are preparing classrooms.  Why?  Because we are excited about a new school year!

We look forward to seeing all our 1st through 5th grade students at open house on Tuesday, August 2nd.  Come out at 5:30 p.m. to visit with Mr. Rucker, pick up a fresh grilled hot dog and see your friends again before we open the doors to teacher classrooms at 6:00 p.m.  Our new Kindergarteners can come out on Thursday, August 4th at 6:00 p.m. to meet their new teachers.  K’s and parents will tour the school, learn about special area instruction, and learn the ropes of being a big kid.

We will get the year started on Wednesday, August 10th.  Morning Meeting starts at 8:40 a.m. in the gym. Car Riders, please drop off using the Jefferson Street door.  Remember that the line forms early and is very long at the beginning of the year.  Make sure you plan your departure from home to give you time for your student to make Morning Meeting.

The Family Resource Youth Service Center will again host the Boo Hoo Breakfast for Kindergarten parents in the PTA Room across from the Gym.  Parents can gather together for mutual support as you bring your students to the first day of school.  The breakfast will begin at 8:30 a.m. and run to 9:15 a.m.

We will dismiss car riders, Bear Care, and walkers at 3:40 p.m.  Again, car rider line is on the Jefferson Street side of TES.  Bus riders will board their bus in the courtyard of TES and dismiss once all students have boarded.

Beginning in late August, we will be pleased to introduce to you Tigers Beyond the Bell.  This program will provide academic support for all students attending TES, engage students in a rotating series of clubs and activities, and connect students to real world learning experiences.  Look for more information coming home in backpacks.

Remember the importance of Parent Participation throughout the school year.  Our PTO will be sending home information about how you can help ensure that each students’ academic experience meets the highest levels.  Watch your back pack folders for opportunities to get involved.
See you soon!
