Loren Thomas Gordon, Jr. has been charged with numerous offenses after he allegedly involved state and local police on a chase through Taylorsville before crashing his vehicle on Mt. Washington Road Sept. 22.

Gordon has been charged with fleeing police and two counts of wanton endangerment of a police officer, both felonies. Other charges include speeding, DUI, possession of alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle and operating a vehicle with an expired license.

Kentucky State Police initially responded to a 911 call on Sept. 22 reporting a red, two-door Chevrolet possible being driven by a driver under the influence. Trooper John Dixon spotted the vehicle north of Taylorsville on KY 55. After pulling the vehicle over and returning to his patrol car to run the suspect’s driver’s license, Dixon stated that Gordon drove away.

The pursuit continued south on KY 55 when the suspect turned west on KY 44. Gordon lost control of his vehicle in the curves of KY44 near Green Acres. His vehicle overturned several times and Gordon was partially ejected from the driver’s side window.

Gordon was flown to University of Louisville Hospital. His injuries were considered serious.

As police and emergency service personnel worked the scene, traffic along KY 44 was blocked for hours. School bus routes were delayed for middle and high school students.
