Water towers in three locations across Spencer County came down last week as the city prepares to have two larger tanks constructed.
Towers at Possum Ridge, Whitfield and Little Union were brought down by Isler Demolition. The demolition was done at a cost of around $13,500 with the company also keeping the steel.
Kevin Sisler, with Sisler-Maggard Engineering, said the old tanks at Whitfield and Possum Ridge were both 100,000 gallons, while the Little Union tank was 50,000 gallons. A new tower will be built at the Possum Ridge site. He said construction will run about $800,000 on that unit. He said they hope to have the new tank completed by August.
Once completed, the older tank at Mt. Eden will also be demolished and brought down.
No water service was disrupted during the demolition process, according to Sisler.
