• Karrer earns master’s from U of L

    Brandy Renee Karrer, daughter of Donnie and Sandy Lucas and David Hardin, all of Taylorsville, graduated with a Master of Arts in teaching from the University of Louisville on Dec. 19, 2013 at the KFC Yum Center. Brandy is the wife of Jason and mother of Makayla and Blake.
    Brandy is a 1996 graduate of Spencer County High School.

  • PHOTOS: Young authors share their work

    Spencer County Elementary School fifth graders from Mrs. Penrod’s class recently shared some of their own stories with kindergarten students at the school. The fifth grade students composed the stories through the writing process and, according to school counselor Ashley Phillips, were excited to be published authors. ‘They enjoyed having the opportunity to share their work with others,’ Phillips said.

  • SCHS alumni participate in Governor’s Cup shootout

    The Kentucky Association for Academic Competition hosted the annual Governor’s Cup Alumni Shootout on Dec. 27 at the Hyatt Regency in Lexington.

  • Wendy Stidham graduates from the University of Louisville

    Wendy Stidham recently earned a B.S.B.A. Degree in marketing with a double minor in entrepreneurship and management from the University of Louisville. The graduation ceremony was Dec. 19, 2013, at the KFC Yum Center in Louisville.

  • Fletcher named to dean’s list at RMU

    Crystal Fletcher of Fisherville was recently named to the fall 2013 dean’s list at Robert Morris University. She is majoring in nursing (FOP).

  • Clayton to attend medical school

    Taylor Clayton, the 2009 valedictorian of Spencer County High School has been accepted into the University of Pikeville Medical School.

    Clayton graduated with honors from Eastern Kentucky University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and a minor in chemistry. She is currently working on a Masters in biology and teaching a clinical microbiology class at EKU. She will begin medical school in July 2014.
    She is the daughter of Dwight and Cathy Clayton of Taylorsville.

  • SCES students raise money to feed families

    Students from Mrs. Curry’s, Mrs. Mallory’s, Mrs. Palmer’s and Mrs. Sanford’s classes raised over $425 this holiday season for The Salvation Army’s Food Angel Tree.
