• ANNIVERSARY: McKinneys to celebrate 50 year of marriage

    Burnice and Juanita (Thompson) McKinney are celebrating 50 years together. The two were married Aug. 17, 1963. They have three children, Michael McKinney of Bardstown, Lisa Lewis of Jeffersontown and Lori (Steve) Bunch of Cox’s Creek. They also have two grandchildren, Clayton and Kasey Lewis and several fur grandbabies. A celebration will be at Wakefield Baptist Church in Taylorsville on Saturday at 3 p.m. All friends and family are invited.

    Bobby and Amanda McManaway of Franklin announce the birth of their son, Caden Lane McManaway, on June 13 at Centennial Women’s Hospital.

    He weighed 8 pounds, 5 ounces and was 20 1/4 inches long.
    He was welcomed by his brothers, Brody, 6, and Mason, 2.
    His maternal grandparents are Mark and Valerie Armstrong of Taylorsville.
    His paternal grandparents are Kim and Debbie McManaway of Reynolds Station.
    His great-grandparents are Ray Wilson and Betty Carol Armstrong and Paul and Mary Rusher.

  • WEDDING: Dufilho-Williamson wed in June

    Alexis Dufilho of Taylorsville and Darrel Williamson of Georgetown, Ind., pictured at right, were married June 8 at Corydon Presbyterian Church.

    The bride is a daughter of Anne Dufilho of Taylorsville.
    She is employed as a zookeeper in the Gorilla Forest at the Louisville Zoo.
    The groom is a son of Tom and Sandy Williamson of Georgetown, Ind.
    He is employed by the North Harrison County School Department.
    The Rev. Bill Raine officiated the wedding.
    The couple will reside in Georgetown, Ind.

  • ENGAGEMENT: Hopper, Burgin to wed in August

    Tachelle Banfield Hopper, mother of Augustus and McMillan Ludwick, announces her engagement to Tommy Burgin, father of PJ, Jessie and TT Burgin.
    Hopper is a 1987 graduate of Sullivan University with a degree in paralegal studies. Burgin is a 1995 graduate of Oldham County High School.
    The couple will marry in Louisville on Aug. 2 at 7 p.m.

  • Jones named third runner-up in Miss Kentucky pageant

    Spencer County’s Laura Jones, 20, was named third runner-up of the three-day Miss Kentucky pageant over the weekend in Lexington. Jones qualified for the scholarship pageant by winning the title of Miss Appalachia Area. A daughter of Tom and Pamela Jones of Fisherville, Jones participated in the event for the second time.

  • Saltsman, Fields to wed June 22

    Julie Hayden of Bardstown and Christopher Fields and Michelle Wright of Taylorsville wish to announce the engagement of their parents, Carolyn Saltsman and Larry Fields, both of Hodgenville.
    The couple will be married June 22, 2013 with an outdoor ceremony at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Kenny Kerfoot, Hodgenville.
    Carolyn is a semi-retired registered nurse with Intrepid Home Health and a tour director with Shockey Tours in Louisville.
    Larry is a tour bus driver with Shockey Tours, an ordained general Baptist minister and a retired home builder.

    Marissa Wente of Taylorsville and Samuel Hillard of Frankfort announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage on June 15, 2013.
    The bride-to-be is a daughter of Deborah Powell Wente and Stephen Wente of Taylorsville.
    The groom-to-be is a son of Andi and David Hillard of Frankfort.
    The wedding will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the Hillard residence, 870 Stillhouse Hollow Road, on Elkhorn Creek in Frankfort.
