    SCHS Class of 1983 Reunion

    The Spencer County High School Class of 1983 35th Year Reunion will be held on Friday, August 24 at Jeptha Creed Distillery in Shelbyville beginning at 5 p.m.
    There will be a local band, Usual Suspects, playing and a food truck will be on site. This is an outside event so please dress for comfort.
    A second get together will be held on Saturday, August 25 starting at 11 a.m. at the Taylorsville Lake Pavillion #1. Pack a picnic lunch, bring your lawn chairs and come enjoy an afternoon with classmates and their families.

    Habitat for Humanity
    Community Forums

    The Spencer County Habitat for Humanity board will host two community forums in which Spencer County residents can receive information about the Habitat for Humanity mission, and be pre-screened for eligibility to apply as a prospective partner family.
    Prospective families must meet income and credit requirements, and must be willing to provide volunteer sweat-equity towards their own home and other HFH projects. The community forums are designed to explain the application process and requirements.

    MPCAA Public Meeting
    Multi-Purpose Community Action Agency’s Board of Directors will meet on Monday, July 23at 1:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Spencer County Fiscal Court, 28 E. Main Street, Taylorsville. The public is invited to attend. Multi-Purpose CAA provides services for families in Bullitt, Shelby and Spencer counties.

    Summer Supper Program
    Several area churches are joining to provide a weekly time of food and fellowship this summer.
    The program is called Summer Supper and will include a meal served up for the community at the Taylorsville Community Church Fellowship Center on Tuesday and Thursday evenings beginning this week and running through the end of July.
    The meal is free to anyone and the event is intended to serve the community and strengthen families. The meals will be served at 6 p.m.

    Youth football and cheerleading sign ups this Saturday

    The Spencer County Stallions youth football program will be having signups for players and cheerleaders on Saturday, June 9 and on Saturady, June 16 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Ray Jewell Park. Children ages 5-11 are invited to register. The fee is $99, but there are payment plans available.

    Golf Scramble

    The 13th annual Spencer County Habitat Golf Scramble will be held Saturday at Tanglewood Golf Course. Registration begins at 7 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. You’re invited to join them for a great day of golf, a delicious lunch provided by All Saints Knights of Columbus and the chance to win some wonderful door prizes, all while supporting a great cause.     Saturday at 10 a.m.

    AMVET Chapter 129 will conduct a Memorial Day Honor Service at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Veterans Memorial on Main Street in Taylorsville. Chuck Adams, Superintendent of Spencer County Public Schools will be the guest speaker.
