    Youth football and cheerleading sign ups this Saturday

    The Spencer County Stallions youth football program will be having signups for players and cheerleaders on Saturday, June 9 and on Saturady, June 16 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Ray Jewell Park. Children ages 5-11 are invited to register. The fee is $99, but there are payment plans available.

    Golf Scramble

    The 13th annual Spencer County Habitat Golf Scramble will be held Saturday at Tanglewood Golf Course. Registration begins at 7 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. You’re invited to join them for a great day of golf, a delicious lunch provided by All Saints Knights of Columbus and the chance to win some wonderful door prizes, all while supporting a great cause.     AMVET Chapter 129 will conduct a Memorial Day Honor Service at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Veterans Memorial on Main Street in Taylorsville. Chuck Adams, Superintendent of Spencer County Public Schools will be the guest speaker.

    Annual Gourd Show coming
    up May 19-20

    The 24th annual Kentucky Gourd Art Show will be May 19 and 20 at the Spencer County Elementary School. Times are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
    The Kentucky Gourd Society is still looking for outside booth vendors, such as crafters and non-profits for the show. Contact Lois Platt at 422-1302 for information.

    The Main Street Program’s annual Dinner in Jail event is coming up April 28. Three seating times are available, at 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tickets are $25 and are on sale at the Red Scooter and the Tea Cup.

    Candidates will discuss Economic
    Development at Chamber

    The Chamber of Commerce will host an Economic Development Forum for candidates running for judge-executive and magistrates Thursday beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Chamber building. If you have a question you’d like to submit, email it to president@spencercountykychamber.com. The chamber will also be accepting non-perishable items as donations for Backpack Buddies during the event.

    Community Easter Services

    The Spencer County Ministerial Association has announced times and locations for the community Easter services.
    The Good Friday service will be held at noon at First Baptist Church in Taylorsville on Friday, March 30, with Pastor Ken Jackson of Elk Creek Baptist Church bringing the message.
    The Easter Sunrise Service will be held on Easter morning, April 1, at 7 a.m. at Plum Creek Baptist Church.

    Spencer County Retired Teachers will meet Tuesday at Taylorsville Elementary School at 9:30 a.m.  We will tour the building and have a short business  meeting updating everyone on the pension bill and on important health insurance information.
