  • Relay for Life team fundraising events

    Relay team plans yard sale for Saturday
    The Spencer County Preschool Relay for Life team is hosting a yard sale Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the preschool, 110 Reasor Ave.
    The sale will feature a little bit of everything and all proceeds go to the American Cancer Society.

    My journey with cancer began April 25, 2012. My husband and I went to the Cleveland Clinic for my annual scan checking on an aneurysm. Just like all the other times, after finishing the scan we went to my doctor’s office for the results. My doctor had a very concerned look, which made me think the worst.

  • Junk item pickup to begin May 13

    The spring 2013 curbside pickup of junk items will begin May 13. Your regular garbage day will be the day to set out items.
    Scrap tires, old oil, old antifreeze, any types of pesticide containers or other hazardous materials that may contaminate air or water supplies are not accepted.

    Thursday’s regular meeting of the Spencer County Board of Elections has been canceled due to illness. Regular meetings will resume in May.

  • National Day of Prayer event set for May 2

    Tens of thousands of prayer events are planned across the country on Thursday, May 2, to honor the annual National Day of Prayer. In churches, parks and on courthouse steps, citizens will pray for our nation, government leaders, media, military, schools, churches, businesses and families.
    Spencer County will honor the National Day of Prayer on the courthouse steps in Taylorsville from noon to 1 p.m.  Many government leaders will participate in the program as well as several Spencer County pastors, according to a news release.

  • What's Happening — Week of April 17

    Tea Party to meet Thursday
    The Spencer County Tea Party will meet Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Kentucky Farm Bureau building, 695 Taylorsville Road.
    The speaker will be David Adams, former campaign manager for Sen. Rand Paul.  Adams has recently filed a lawsuit to halt the implementation of “Obamacare” in Kentucky. For more information on the Tea Party, call Carol at 502-618-1940 or Rick at 502-641-2346.
