    Dinner in Jail tickets on sale

    The Main Street Program’s annual Dinner in Jail event is coming up April 28. Three seating times are available, at 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tickets are $25 and are on sale at the Red Scooter and the Tea Cup.

    Candidates will discuss Economic
    Development at Chamber

    The Chamber of Commerce will host an Economic Development Forum for candidates running for judge-executive and magistrates Thursday beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Chamber building. If you have a question you’d like to submit, email it to president@spencercountykychamber.com. The chamber will also be accepting non-perishable items as donations for Backpack Buddies during the event.

    Spencer County Octoberfest

    The Spencer County Octoberfest will be held the first week of October, with events starting on October 2 and the parade and festival taking place on October 6.
    The theme for this year’s event is “This Is Our Town” and there will be plenty of music showcasing local talent.
    Pageants will be held October 2 and 4, a 5K Walk/Run will take place on October 3, the Talent Show will be held on October 5, and the main festivities will be on October 6 with crafts, live music, a parade, car show and food.

    Community Easter Services

    The Spencer County Ministerial Association has announced times and locations for the community Easter services.
    The Good Friday service will be held at noon at First Baptist Church in Taylorsville on Friday, March 30, with Pastor Ken Jackson of Elk Creek Baptist Church bringing the message.
    The Easter Sunrise Service will be held on Easter morning, April 1, at 7 a.m. at Plum Creek Baptist Church.

    Retired Teachers to meet

    Spencer County Retired Teachers will meet Tuesday at Taylorsville Elementary School at 9:30 a.m.  We will tour the building and have a short business  meeting updating everyone on the pension bill and on important health insurance information.

    Masonic Lodge Ham Breakfast

    The Taylorsville Masonic Lodge #210 will have an all-you-can eat country ham breakfast from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 3. The breakfast is $7 per person. Carry-out is available.

    Farmers Market meeting

    The Spencer County Farmers Market Committee will be holding a planning meeting on Thursday, beginning at 6 p.m. They would like all of those who have previously sold or are interested in selling to attend. They will be discussing the previous selling season and begin planning the 2018 season. It will be held at the Spencer Co. Extension Office.
    You do not need to be a large producer to participate in the market. Backyard gardeners are welcome.
