  • Spencer County Public Library announces January events

    The following community events are being held at the Spencer County Public Library in January:
    • Make it, Take it for Teens Jan. 10 at 6:30 p.m.  Start the New Year off “write.”  Make your own journal.
    • Jan. 12 — Lego build activity. Come build with us at 10:30 a.m.  We have the Legos, you bring the ingenuity. 
    • Story time is on on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Planes, trains and automobiles run rampant.

  • What's Happening — Week of Jan. 9

    MPCAA board to meet
    Multi-Purpose Community Action Agency’s Board of Directors will meet on Monday, Jan. 28, at 1:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Spencer County Fiscal Court Room located in Taylorsville. The public is invited to attend. Multi-Purpose CAA provides services in Bullitt, Shelby and Spencer counties.

  • PHOTO: Coots served as special supreme court justice

    Local attorney Robert Coots is shown being sworn in as a special Supreme Court justice by Kentucky Supreme Court Chief Justice John D. Minton. Coots was appointed by Gov. Steve Beshear on Nov. 3, 2011, and sat as a member of the Supreme Court of Kentucky on Feb. 16, 2012, to hear and vote on one case. The case was completed with an opinion rendered Aug. 23, 2012. Also pictured is Special Supreme Court Justice Roger L. Crittenden of Frankfort.

    Finchville Ruritan plans community yard sale
    The Finchville Ruritan Club will have a community yard sale Thursday through Saturday at the Finchville Community Center in Finchville, which is about four miles south on Ky. 55 South from the I-64 Taylorsville exit.

  • What's Happening — Week of Dec. 26

    Chamber to award best dressed holiday businesses
    The Taylorsville-Spencer County Chamber of Commerce will give out awards to the best dressed holiday businesses. Awards will be given for first, second and third place at the January Chamber luncheon.

    Magnet office announces holiday closings
    The Spencer Magnet office will be closed Tuesday, in observance of the New Year’s holiday. The office will be open Monday and Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
