    Spencer County Schools will kick off the 2013-14 school year with the same cell phone policy they have had in recent years, but there has been some discussion as to how long that policy will continue.

    Law enforcement will be roaming the grounds of Spencer County schools this fall, following an agreement between Spencer County Schools and the City of Taylorsville. Taylorsville Police Officers Damon Jewell and Kevin Mills will primarily be the district’s part-time school resource officers.

  • Board approves supply lists for elementary students

    Spencer County Public Schools’ kindergarten through fifth grade students will now have uniform school supply lists across the district that contain items deemed the most necessary after the Board of Education took action on the issue Monday night.
    Superintendent Chuck Adams said after hearing several comments, suggestions and some complaints that supply lists were overly lengthy and that teachers in the same grades were requiring differing items, he took it upon himself to compile lists for elementary students across the district.

    Many years ago, there was a television documentary that was broadcast called “This is Your Life.” The series first ran from the early 1950s to 1961 and it was revived for a couple of years in the early ‘70s, eventually fizzling out with a few shows in the early ‘80s. The essence of the show was that the host would surprise a guest and then he would take them on a stroll down memory lane in front of the audience.
