  • Lady Grizzlies end perfect basketball season


    Spencer County 7th grade Lady Grizzlies completed their season by beating Bloomfield 36 - 32 in overtime last Monday to win the MKAC basketball championship. The Lady Grizzlies finished with a perfect 17-0 record on the year.

  • Youth Soccer champs


    The Spencer County Sports Association ended its Fall 2017 Soccer Season with a Fun Day event at Waterford Park, which included food, inflatables and plenty of soccer, including the U8 Mike Miles Tournament and the U10 Derek Anderson Tournament.

    Signups for the Spring 2018 season will take place throughout the month of January and registration forms can be found at SpencerCountySoccer.com starting now.

  • Recycling Center’s future in question


    Spencer County Judge-Executive John Riley wants the fiscal court to take a look at eliminating the county’s recycling program. However, an effort to take away a portion of their space in the county-owned building on Spears Drive failed in a 3-3 vote Monday morning.

    It’s been a tumultuous week in Frankfort and State Representative James A. Tipton, R-Taylorsville, hopes to see officials stay focused on the business at hand, primarily, addressing the state’s pension crisis.

  • Beware of fake classified ads

    Last week, a scam alert was issued by Attorney General Andy Beshear to warn Kentuckians about fraudulent advertisements placed in the classified section of local Kentucky newspapers and online.

    Beshear said Kentuckians in several counties including Bath, Barren, Franklin and Jefferson have reported replying to classified ads for a deeply discounted John Deere tractor, Toyota or Chevrolet pickup truck that turned out to be a scam.

  • head-on collision on KY 155


    Members of the Taylorsville-Spencer County Fire Department and Spencer County EMS worked to free a driver from the wreckage of this car following a two-vehicle head-on collision last Tuesday night on KY 155 near the Jefferson County line.

    No accident report was ready at press time and identities of those involved have not been released, but the man in this car was seriously injured and remains hospitalized. The driver of the  other vehicle was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

  • Court seeks price quotes on ballfield lighting

    While they’re not sure where the matching grants will come from, the Spencer County Fiscal Court voted unanimously Monday to get price quotes on providing lights for at least one baseball field at Ray Jewell Memorial Park. The decision comes after the county received a state grant for $39,000 after at least six years of applying for the funds.

    The Spencer County Circuit Clerk’s Office will be closed Friday, November 10th, in observance of the Veteran’s Day holiday.  The office will reopen on Monday, November 13th, at 7:30 a.m.
