  • The Spencer Magnet remembers Dolly Brock

    Through mere coincidence, my last name is the same as Dolly Brock’s. I married into the Brock family, but it’s a Brock family from nowhere close to here. I’ve fielded many a question as to whether Dolly and I were related, and I’ll only answer it now the way she wanted me to — we’re not sure, but maybe.

  • OPERATION PREPARATION: SCHS sophomores participate in statewide college/career readiness

    During the month of March, Spencer County High School sophomores will participate in Operation Preparation, a statewide college/career readiness initiative.  Advising is a key strategy to ensure that every student is college/career ready by the time they graduate.  Tenth grade students will meet individually with a trained community adviser who will review their ILP (Individual Learning Plan), a career interest inventory and EXPLORE/PLAN results to discuss the student’s:
    Career aspirations, required education/training and workforce skills

  • Preschool hosts early childhood screenings

    Spencer County Preschool’s Early Childhood Screening will be April 19 and May 17 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The early childhood screening is by appointment only.
    These will be the only scheduled preschool screenings prior to the start of the 2013/2014 school year.
