LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

I read in The Magnet last week that Acting Superintendent Chuck Abell is retiring, and it is a great loss to our educational community.

With a half century of Kentucky education experience, I have never witnessed the accomplishments of a school leader that Mr. Abell has attained. His dedication, energy, knowledge, and leadership were off the charts.

Mr. Abell inherited one of the most difficult superintendency in the history of the Commonwealth, and no words can describe what he has done for our student body, and the entire Spencer County community.

I could talk days on his accomplishments, but let it be known, that it will be difficult to replace a leader of his character. He will leave Spencer County education as one of the greatest superintendents in the history of the commonwealth.

I have total faith in the school board, and the ongoing selection process, and I pray that we will receive an application from an experienced superintendent that will match the qualifications of Mr. Abell.

In closing, Mr. Abell, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you have accomplished for the staff, children, and community.
